Opportunity Or Challenge

Sometimes encountering a challenge can actually be a great opportunity. This is a true collaboration case.

Although we have printed countless pure cotton towels, mainly with single-sided designs, and our techniques are quite mature in various aspects, this time the client insisted on double-sided printing. They also did not accept the jacquard process, as it has a longer production cycle and would not meet the delivery timeline or achieve the desired visual effect on both sides. With our current technology, we can print on both sides, but while the front side turns out normal, the printing on the reverse side—the looped pile side—is generally not very clear. Additionally, it cannot be positioned accurately, meaning the logo on the back can only be printed in a repeating pattern. As a result, the position of the logo may vary on each towel. We communicated this situation to the client, who accepted the solution of a continuous, non-positioned repeating logo. Accordingly, we adjusted the design and proceeded with actual testing.

During this process, we also shared some positive insights with the client. In recent years, there has been a growing demand from some clients for double-sided printing on pure cotton towels. Even before this client’s request, we had conducted numerous tests on double-sided printing using high-penetration printing equipment, so we had some foundational experience. However, at that stage, we had not yet purchased the new high-penetration printing machine—it was still in the planning phase and would not arrive for about another month, which meant we could not meet the client’s deadline.Considering that our existing technology and printing equipment could not achieve the desired outcome, we suggested trying the latest high-penetration printing equipment to handle this order. We honestly reported the actual situation to the client. Our plan was to send the materials directly to the printing equipment factory, where the first batch would be printed, and then return the semi-finished products to our own factory for subsequent processing. The client, hoping for a good result, agreed to this approach.

Thanks to the client’s trust, we boldly proceeded with sampling and bulk production according to this plan. We also developed a detailed production schedule to ensure on-time delivery for the client’s event. Based on the jointly agreed test sample design, we printed the actual sample. The overall result was quite satisfactory, the new high-penetration printing equipment allowed for positioned printing, with logos symmetrically aligned on both front and back sides. There was a minor issue: the text on the back was printed in the reverse direction.

 We assured the client that this would be corrected in mass production to ensure complete accuracy.Time was extremely tight. After reviewing the physical test sample, the client finalized the design, making some adjustments to both preserve the intended effect and adapt to production requirements. In this way, the project was finalized.

Coinciding with the National Day holiday—a week-long break—normal production timelines would not have met the client’s event schedule. Therefore, from the initial test sample stage, we had already prepared a contingency plan and created a very detailed production schedule. By following this schedule and coordinating closely with the client on confirmation timelines, through our joint efforts, we delivered the order three days ahead of schedule.The bulk production results also satisfied the client greatly.

When we face challenges, we are actually presented with a valuable opportunity. Of course, our confidence, reliable technical support, and the client’s trust were all indispensable factors that enabled us to turn this challenge into an opportunity and ensure the smooth delivery of the order.

Follow-up after delivery:

① Following the perfect delivery of the first order,the client placed a new order just half a month later.

② The high-penetration printing machine has now been purchased,installed, tested, and put into operation.

 It is ready to receive orders for double-sided printing on pure cotton towels at any time.
